Description

Functional Safety Engineer - County Galway. In this role you will be responsible for assisting and ensuring the design and development of products/solutions is carried out in accordance with the ISO26262 Functional Safety Standard. Key Responsibilities: Function Safety Engineering: • Identify functional safety requirements within the project based on customer requirements. • Develop the technical safety concept for the product in conjunction with hardware, software and function development teams ensuring compliance with ISO26262. • Demonstrate how the chosen technical concept will comply with functional safety requirements. • Collaborate with the design team in the design of effective technical solutions aimed to achieve adequate robustness at System, Hardware and Software architectural level in compliance with ISO26262. • Prepare and assist in Safety Assessment Reviews held by Safety Assessor. • Perform relevant safety analysis activities in the development of the technical safety concept. • Communicate and review with customer to ensure common understanding and agreement on functional safety implementation. Functional Safety Management: • Identify, plan, organise, track and document all necessary safety activities within project. • Organise, prepare and moderate the safety activities and safety analysis. • Ensure the incorporation of the safety concepts in customer end-products and verify the overall safety concept. • Provide support for the product development team and other functions in functional safety processes and activities ensuring relevant functions are aware of the required outputs. • Liaise with project manager to ensure safety planning aspects are integrated in the project plan & schedule. • Ensure regular communication to the customer during the development phases in regard to functional safety. • Support the creation of Safety Case for the product. Qualifications and Experience Required: • Degree in Electronic, Computer or Software Engineering or equivalent. • Knowledge in and application of ISO26262, IEC61508, Automotive SPICE. • Minimum 5 years' experience in automotive industry. • Experience of automotive electronic product development. • Familiar with automotive quality management and product development processes. • Experience of creating safety concepts and technical safety requirements. • Experience with analysis tools & methods such as FMEA, FMEDA, FTA. • Excellent communication skills. • Proficient in the use of organisation and planning methods. • Excellent engineering analysis/analytical ability.
