MES Engineer - County Galway. Role mission: Act as key interface between MES, Production and IS Department, providing technical support across all production areas ensuring reporting and process requirements are established to an IS-approved standard. Continuous Improvement is an integral part of the job. Problem solving, Root Cause Analysis and implementing Corrective Actions are a fundamental part of the job. Main Responsibilities: • Implement MES process improvements and help determine/define MES system improvements. • By working closely with Production and the IS Department, ensure opportunities for streamlining information flows are identified and appropriate IT solutions are introduced that address production needs. • In conjunction with the IS Department’s current standards, ensure Production and Engineering have the appropriate processes in place to provide maximum contingencies and recovery options. This will be mainly achieved by: - Identifying single points of failure and advising Production and Engineering of appropriate corrective actions (Back/Restore Procedures, Disaster Recovery Planning, etc.) - Ensuring responsible parties have sufficient training in performing system imaging and restorations. - Ensuring robust process are in place to properly manage system backup images. • Ensure reporting requirements are addressed for various functions (e.g. Production, Quality, Engineering, etc) by: - Initially producing reports that satisfy their requests (specifically as they relate to efficiencies and yield), - Subsequently ensuring reporting requirements are incorporated into a robust IS Reporting solution, providing appropriate departments with the ability to generate their own queries and reports in a controlled environment. • Assist Production & Engineering with the implementation and day-to-day support for the Shop Floor Management System (SFMS) and Manufacturing Execution System (MES. • Support Production's new line introductions and changes, with particular emphasis on process enhancements and SFMS/MES implementations. • Assist in the needs analysis of training requirements and facilitation of training delivery within Production and Engineering across a broad range of IS technologies and standard practices, such as: - Production Applications (SFMS, MES, etc. - System troubleshooting techniques. - Establishing appropriate change management controls for systems. - Ensuring consistent system configuration and deployment practices. - Basic IS/IT technology awareness (Operating Systems, Networking, Security & Anti-Virus Risks, etc. Interested applicants should have: • Degree/Diploma in Electronics / Computer Engineering or equivalent. • Minimum 2 years' experience within electronics manufacturing environment. • Experience with MySQL databases, creating/optimising/executing queries, Excel and macros. • Experience with Windows / Linux operating systems. • Experience with Vision based products/applications would be beneficial. • Experience in document writing is required i.e. procedures, specifications, reports, etc. • Knowledge of Shop Floor management systems and traceability required. • Must have excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills. • Knowledge of lean production principles is an advantage. • Knowledge of Software Development technologies and principles is an advantage.
