Plc Programmer / Controls Engineer

Description

Duties and Responsibilities: Provide technical expertise and leadership in process and equipment development. Provide design support and programming for PLC’s, motion control, vision applications, robotic systems and PC controlled equipment. Design, develop, install and test PLC and control software projects Monitor and evaluate safety practices and ensure compliance with legislation where relevant (CE compliance of equipment. Ensure completion of appropriate and relevant documentation within area(s) of responsibility such as GAMP documentation e.g. URS, FDS, FAT, SAT etc. Have a keen ability to fault find complex automation equipment. Perform equipment set up and commissioning Support assembly and maintenance personnel in relation to troubleshooting and fault finding. Carry out risk assessments on equipment Liaise with customers providing detailed design reviews Liaise with Production, Design, and Purchasing department. Knowledge, skills and Experience: BEng degree in Electrical, Mechatronics or Automation Engineering, with emphasis in electrical, mechanical, electronic, automation and programming. At least 3-4 years’ experience in automation engineering. Experienced in Allen Bradley programming essential. Experienced in Siemens & Beckhoff programming is desirable. Some experience of solidworks electrical design package would be desirable. Highly desirable skills include, experience with programming of Beckhoff PLC’s, Allen Bradley Controllogix5000 and PLC5, ControlNet/DeviceNet, Visual Basic applications, Motion control programming, Barcode systems Working knowledge of SQL Server and UNIX would be an advantage. Experience of Machine Vision Technology, pattern recognition or ability to acquire experience quickly. Ability to work as part of a factory critical team to resolve floor issues quickly. Excellent customer relations, communications and interpersonal skills. Strong communications skills, creative and innovative. Good negotiation and presentation skills. Self-Motivated self-started can be left to work on own devices. Strong interpersonal skills and social competence, team player, accurate and consistent.
