R&D Process Engineer - County Galway. Job Description: In this role you will be responsible to ensure a smooth running system and software development process, method and tool-chain in your projects. Support Project Manager, R&D Project Team Members, and Software Project Manager to identify gaps and inefficiencies. Coach the projects team on process method and tools topics, and make sure they get the necessary coaching from respective sources. Take gaps identified by SYS&SW Q reviews, customer reviews or other reviews and track them to closure. Work closely together with and be supported by the Process Owners and Key Users in the applicable departments. Responsibilities: • Ensure compliance of SYS&SW development processes, methods and tools to CDV process landscape i.e. SMARTmap in assigned projects. • Analyse the project regarding the processes and rate the “process early indicators” • Ensure successful and timely achievement of CLEAN milestone i.e. availability of defined artifacts in acceptable quality. • Support the project team to establish SYS&SW development plans in order to define the development approach of the project, thus documenting the process, methods and tool tailoring decisions and de-standardisation requests. • Proactively identify and close gaps within project specific SYS&SW development processes to achieve process compliance. • Establish close communication among applicable departments regarding the process gaps and improvement actions, their progress and status. • Interface between SYS&SW Quality and the project in order to support achievement of project quality goals. • Identify know-how gaps within the team regarding development processes, methods and tool-chain; and close them through adequate actions as agreed with project and department management e.g. through training and individual coaching. • As R&D Process Engineer, take the lead on all process improvement actions addressing the identified gaps out of internal & external reviews, assessment and self-assessment. • Share process, methods and tools best practices to facilitate and progress on process improvement. • Lead Process Improvement Action Plan to reach process compliance goals in project. • Share updates of process, methods and tools improvements e.g. SMARTmap releases with the R&D project teams. • Support the relevant roles and project team in preparation of reviews like SYS&SW reviews, GEEDS/RAISE design-reviews and technical-reviews, AutomotiveSPICE/GAMA assessment. • Actively contribute in carrying out root cause analysis for SYS&SW Q claims/issues and derive improvement actions to be tracked within the context of process improvement action plan. • Support R&D PTM's & Software PM to manage SYS&SW process maturity tasks. • Escalate to project management; hierarchical/line management and CDV R&D Process Engineering to solve process compliance roadblocks path depending on severity. Qualifications and experience sought: • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Science or Mathematics. •Experience with the software development process, systems engineering methodologies, and test techniques. • Experience in training or mentoring peers in engineering methodologies. • Experience in Quality. • Experience in Software Quality Assurance / Software Development. • Experience in embedded SW/SYS development (automotive experience is a plus.
