The Office of Public Works (OPW) has responsibility for the design and supervision of the construction of new buildings required for Government Departments including offices, Garda stations, prisons, social welfare centres and cultural centres. It is also responsible for the design and fitting out of Government office accommodation, the maintenance of Government buildings and the conservation, restoration and care of heritage buildings owned and occupied by the State. The OPW is also the lead State body for the coordination and implementation of Government policy on the management of flood risk in Ireland. The Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Services Section is a unit within the OPW’s Estate Portfolio Management Section. Its main function is the design and maintenance of building services in existing and new buildings for Government Departments and other State organisations. Reporting to an Engineer, the Senior Clerk of Works will be responsible for arranging and supervising the maintenance of M&E systems, the preparation of contract documents and the supervision of work on site. The successful candidate will have qualified as an electrician, having successfully passed all required trade examinations, have a minimum of four years’ experience working as an electrician in commercial buildings and/or industrial installations, have satisfactory experience on building work as a Clerk of Works, supervisor or in a similar role.
