The Local Government Sector in Ireland has responsibility for a wide range of services in local areas, with a focus on ensuring cities, towns and the countryside remain attractive places to live, work and invest in. Opportunities now exist in Kerry County Council and Galway County Council, for the roles of Chief Fire Officer. The Chief Fire Officer will manage and administer an efficient and effective Fire Service in accordance with the Fire Service Acts and associated legislation applicable to the Fire Service. S/he will also have responsibility for the management and administration of the Councils’ Fire and Emergency Service, including the Major Emergency Plan. S/he will also have responsibility for strategic planning and the implementation of any associated required change throughout the County Council’s Fire and Emergency. Services.
