Senior Terrestrial Ecologists. Location: Galway, Dublin & Cork. Job Type: Permanent Full-time. Ref. No: J5627. RPS are seeking experienced Senior Terrestrial Ecologists (10+ years’ experience ) who will contribute as key members of our Environment Division. There is flexibility for the successful candidates to be located in either of our offices in Galway, Cork or Dublin. You will work with our team of terrestrial ecologists under the Technical Director for Environment. You will assist in the delivery and management of projects for key public and private sector clients in Ireland. Responsibilities. • Senior member of the ecology team delivering high quality, consultancy services to RPS’s clients. • Management of resourcing on projects. Business development and reporting to senior management and directors. • Preparation of Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIAR) and Appropriate Assessments (AA, NIS) on the likely impacts of proposed plans/ projects covering a range of sectors including water, transport, waste, energy and land use. • Site surveys/ assessments and specialist ecological surveys and monitoring as and when required (e.g. habitat mapping, mammal surveys, birds, bats, etc.). • Consultation with relevant stakeholders including: government departments, planning authorities, National Parks and Wildlife Service, Inland Fisheries Ireland, and other regulatory bodies. • Project management of Environmental Impact Assessment and Appropriate Assessment processes including coordination of specialist inputs, liaison with stakeholders, public consultation and compilation of statutory documentation. • Presentation at Oral Hearing. About You. • Degree qualified ( Level 8 or above on the NFQ ) in an ecology related discipline. • Experience working as a Senior Ecologist and delivering environmental impact assessments and appropriate assessments. • A specialism in a distinct area of terrestrial ecology is very desirable alongside a broad base of skills and understanding of the ecological field. • A minimum ten years’ employment experience in ecological consultancy. • Consultancy experience working as part of multi-disciplinary teams; • Full Membership of CIWEM, CIEEM or similar . Chartership (Ecologist / Scientist / Environmentalist) desirable, or working towards chartership. • Excellent field skills with demonstrated field survey experience. • Knowledge of relevant Irish and European legislation. • Excellent report writing skills. • Demonstrable ability to manage a team. • Full clean Irish or EU driving licence.
