An Environmental Health & Safety Specialist is required by CareerWise Recruitment for our Galway based client. Please contact Tom Devaney for more information. THE ROLE: * Adheres to all Safety, Environmental, Security and Quality requirements including, but not limited to: Quality Management Systems (QMS), Safety, Environmental and Security Management Systems, U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, company policies and operating procedures, and other regulatory requirements. * Serves as subject matter expert on EHSS matters related to associate safety, environmental protection, property protection, process and equipment safety, and security in a manufacturing environment. * Implements site specific EHSS strategy and initiates policies, programs, and initiatives to ensure EHSS compliance and achieve EHSS goals. * Monitors and evaluates the impact of new laws, regulations, and industry standards. * Responsible for providing support to the Site Management teams and employees. * Continuously developing a stronger safety culture and updating to comply with current EHS legislation. * Complying with company goals and objectives. * Influence management in order to drive excellence in safety performance and engagement in order to meet safety KPIs, while utilising the Operation Excellence framework to drive EHS improvements. * Co-ordinate EHS teams and effective safety programmes including: - Ergonomics, Emergency evacuation, Safety Training, Safety promotion, Contractor safety. * Experienced in EHS documentation and objectives like Risk Assessments, Safety Statements, Accident Investigation and Prevention. * Constantly updating of the Safety, Environmental and other EHS KPIs and Metrics. * Ability to work across different sites in Ireland and the UK. * To achieve goals and objectives the site Safety Management System and EHS documents to be maintained and continuously improved. * Update and maintain Training Records and Site Equipment registers. * Coordinate safety meetings, training and evacuation drills. REQUIREMENTS: * Bachelor's Degree EHS, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Science or other EHS field. * Minimum Experience: 3-5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment. * Attention to detail, well-organized, and able to solve problems. * Able to manage time in order to complete tasks by required deadlines. * Ability to speak in public with good communication and leadership skills. * Can work independently, as well as with a team. * Ability to lead, motivate, and positively influence others. Self-driven and highly motivated. * Knowledge of Irish and local regulations regarding safety, environmental protection and hazardous materials transportation (US example: OSHA, EPA, DOT, and IATA.
