EHS Manager. My client, a leading medical device company based in Galway, is looking for an experienced Senior EHS Manager to join their site. As the EHS Manager, you will be responsible for leading and promoting EHS policies and procedures, working closely with niche production units and collaborating with Global and remote stakeholders. I am also looking for a candidate with excellent Leadership and Influencing qualities. Key Responsibilities Understand and complies with all the regulations governing the environmental systems, including knowledge of ISO 14001 & ISO 50001. Serve as contact for EPA, OSHA, DOT, Wastewater Treatment, etc. Work with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations. Build and manage staff while creating an environment that motivates people who can work in highly team-based, matrixed, participative, results-orientated organisation. Inspire, motivate and act as a driving influence across all areas of the business. Establish metrics for assessing EH&S system effectiveness. Liaise with the Managing Director, Human Resources Director and site Leadership Team and the Middle Management Group to identify environmental, health and safety objectives for the site operations. Direct and manage all aspects of the Occupational Health programme and liaise closely with HR and Operations. Provide strategic and proactive direction on initiatives that will enhance the EH&S performance. Work with the site leadership team and corporate to establish an annual set of EH&S goals, objectives and performance expectations for Boston Scientific Galway. Direct large scale EH&S related emergency situations, including emergency response systems and ensuring proper hazardous materials & electrical systems risk management. Establish operational guidelines for employee case litigation and settlement. Act as the Management Representative for the Environmental Management System. Ensure all aspects of the IPPC license are maintained. Manage the implementation and improvement of the EH&S Management System. Participate in audits of the Management System on a scheduled basis. Design and manage the delivery and implementation of all EH&S programs which ensure EH&S compliance of division with appropriate regulations and internal (divisional and corporate) policies. Lead internal EH&S audit process. Work with EH&S counterparts from across the company to leverage EH&S resources and programs that positively impact EH&S performance and reduce costs for EH&S efforts. Qualifications Min. HETAC level 8 in Occupational Health & Safety or relevant discipline with 10+ years experience in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry. Master’s Degree or Postgraduate qualification in Occupational Health & Safety highly desirable. Appropriate professional certifications in related fields preferred i.e. CMIOSH. He/she is knowledgeable of legislative requirements, and systems needed to implement sound EH&S practice. Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills are essential.
