Description

A permanent Buyer is required by CareerWise Recruitment for our Galway based client. Responsible to develop and lead local sourcing activities in their portfolio of suppliers. Drive cost out of the business in line with site and individual targets. Effectively communicate with Suppliers, Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering & to ensure excellent customer service to the organization. Coordinate new product introductions as assigned. Work with manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain to understand and meet material needs of new product programs. THE ROLE: * Implements global commodity and supplier strategies to achieve challenging year-over-year cost reduction results through supplier collaboration and competition. * Works closely with all functions, particularly with supply chain, Engineering, Operations and other key internal customers. * Creates project plans, implementation strategies, and executes plans. Performs sophisticated analyses of market dynamics. * Develops contingency plans for assigned commodities and/or strategic suppliers. * Negotiate prices and follow competitive bidding procedures when necessary to ensure the lowest total cost for specific materials, interacting with other departments when necessary. * Reviewing requisitions and conferring with departments regarding requirements, specifications, quantity and quality of merchandise, and delivery requirements. * Maintain accuracy of assigned data fields within material planning and purchasing areas. Use master data to effectively plan and purchase materials. * In Data Management will take ownership for Master Data Management for their respective products and broader supply chain as required. * Reviewing requisitions and conferring with departments regarding requirements, specifications, quantity and quality of merchandise, and delivery requirements. * By working closely with Senior Buyer will investigate and analyze supplier's, technical competence, facilities and production techniques to ensure adequate supplier capacity and capability. * Establish action plans to resolve problems which may delay timely planning, communicate effectively to management, and follow up on their completion. * Review alerts and MRP on a daily to weekly basis to ensure product availability and optimal inventory levels are being met. * Take action to prevent generation of obsolete or excess Raw Material inventory, and manage disposition of excess and obsolete as required throughout the year. * Investigate and recommend implementation of appropriate advanced materials strategies such as Point of Use, Kanban, VMI, etc. REQUIREMENTS: * BBA or equivalent experience, APICS certification preferred. * 3 years buying experience in a manufacturing environment, Medical Device experience preferred. * Work experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six-Sigma preferred. * Ability to quickly and accurately generate action requirements based on Planning System outputs. * Excellent Spreadsheet skills and proficient use of Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and ERP systems experience required. * Demonstrated ability to follow established policies and procedures. * Diligent attention to detail and quality of outputs. * Strong knowledge of operational logic and use of MRP, inventory control, production scheduling, purchasing and capacity planning. * Works well under pressure and can resolve complex problems. * Works in a collaborative fashion, elevates team results over individual results. * Excellent communications skills required with the ability to communicate appropriately with all levels. * Must be a self-starter, self-managed, an effective team player and possess excellent analytical / problem solving skills. * Needs good understanding of the manufacturing process (from raw materials to finished product), sound accounting principles, inventory control and paperwork flow necessary to be able to function responsibly in this position. * Experience in implementing an ERP system is an advantage.
