BSMH is headquartered in Cincinnati and its markets stretch eastwards from Kentucky and the Ohio Valley to the Atlantic seaboard. It is the ambition of the enlarged global health system to further expand into Europe, with Ireland as the base for this expansion. Following internal promotions, Bon Secours Health System wish to make a senior leadership appointment in Galway.  Reporting to the Hospital CEO, the appointee will provide expert knowledge and leadership in the development, implementation and monitoring of effective evidence- based quality and risk management systems. This will be delivered through a programme of risk and incident management, quality assurance, accreditation compliance and continuous improvement. The role is anchored in our guiding principles which promote and preserve the Bon Secours Mission, Vision and Values.   The ideal candidate should be educated to degree level and preferably to postgraduate level in a discipline relevant to quality & risk management in a healthcare setting, a leader with excellent communication and influencing skills, conversant with best practice in an acute hospital setting, and an ability to develop positive relationships both internally and externally. The candidate should possess significant previous experience in carrying out the key duties and responsibilities of a Quality & Risk Manager position which include the following: • Provide an overarching view of all clinical governance and quality indicators including complaints, incidents, quality indicators, audit results and patient feedback. Utilise such information to proactively identify any emergent themes and lead on action to remedy as required.  • Support and develop a culture of informed questioning, trend analysis, and assurance to ensure lessons are learned and the hospital changes practice in a way which has a positive effect on patient outcomes and patient experience.  • Represent a key function of the Hospital Management Team by leading and co-ordinating quality and risk management throughout the hospital, ensuring delivery of best practice and quality of care at all times.   • Lead the hospital accreditation survey process, lead on maintaining JCI accreditation, and supporting achievement of other relevant quality standards as appropriate e.g. INAB, JAG.   • Provide regular reports on adverse events, monitor trends and work closely with Hospital CEO, Hospital Clinical Director and CNQPSO to identify and implement targeted improvements.
