 hbs09846 orthoptist, staff grade. application details/procedure: the orthoptist, staff grade will. • support the principle that the care of the patient comes first at all times and will approach their work with the flexibility and enthusiasm necessary to make this principle a reality for every patient to the greatest possible degree. • undertake orthoptic assessment of appropriate cases referred to the ophthalmologists/eye clinic. • reach a diagnosis of eye movement disorders by selecting appropriate tests and applying a high level of clinical judgement to the findings independently and in conjunction with the community ophthalmic physician and consultant ophthalmologist as a member of the pcet. • formulate treatment plans for both child and adult patients (adult service to be developed), taking full account of the clinical findings and using a wide range of treatment skills.  where requested by the ophthalmic physician to take responsibility for formulating and initiating such plans, including taking decisions on the therapy regimes for children with poor sight and adults with double vision. • test visual fields in patients using both the humphrey and goldmann visual field machines. • undertake ophthalmic imaging, (including oct, ffa, hrt, orbscan) when appropriate and advised to do so by the ophthalmic physician. • undertake any reasonable professional and administrative duties agreed with the senior orthoptist. • be fully responsible for case note recording to a high detailed legible standard. • be responsible for following a personal development plan agreed with the senior orthoptist and maintaining a cpd file. to participate and attend the department’s professional development meetings. • participate in the clinical tuition of optometry, orthoptic, medical and nursing students. • work autonomously and with individual ophthalmic physicians/consultants to diagnose and treat patients with strabismus and amblyopia. • to work collaboratively with other disciplines and professions. • as an employee, maintain the confidentiality of information regarding patients, employees or any business relating to the hse. please note the following general conditions: • employees must attend mandatory training. • all accidents and incidents within the department must be reported immediately. • infection control policies must be adhered to. • in line with the safety, health and welfare at work act, 2005 all staff must comply with all safety regulations and audits. • in line with the public health (tobacco) (amendment) act 2004, smoking within hse buildings/campus is not permitted. https://www.hse.ie/eng/staff/jobs/job-search/allied-health-and-social-care/hbs09846.html. closing date: 14/04/2021 12pm. please note that this advertisement is being hosted by the public appointments service on publicjobs.ie. the public appointments service has no involvement in, or responsibility for, the recruitment and selection process or the terms and conditions which relate to this post.
