Description

A Category Manager to manage regional categories in Electronics, Motors & Batteries is required by CareerWise Recruitment for our client based in Galway. We are looking for a professional with an interest in Technology, either with procurement or a technical background, ideally both. We are seeking a candidate to own the space, strategy, supply base, and performance, and stay current on market trends and conditions in this category. THE ROLE: * Manage categories as assigned. * Identify, engage and align with internal stakeholders to capture category requirements and ensure supplier qualification and quality. * Partner with business unit Procurement teams to efficiently transition suppliers as needed. * Support region/sector New Product Development (NPD) Procurement and New Technology Introduction (NTI) teams through preferred supplier programs. * Responsible for developing and executing detailed category strategy, expanding the Preferred Supplier Program and segmentation based on the business needs and effective procurement principles. * Assess opportunity for category including spend segmentation, category maturity, cost drivers, and supply market analysis. Negotiations: * Manage contract lifecycle and compliance, ensure supply continuity, and deliver best total value through RFx activities in order to execute supplier selection and negotiation. Risk Management: * Actively monitor and mitigate supplier risk including financial, capacity, quality and compliance. Cost Management: * Responsible for delivering category productivity through price, value analysis value engineering and continuous improvement projects. Supplier Management: * Oversee Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) and regular supplier reviews for all strategic suppliers within category to meet program Quality/Cost/Delivery targets. * Lead quarterly reviews with key suppliers, while ensuring creation of supplier profiles for all SRM suppliers. * Develop sourcing strategy for category detailing projects, sourcing levers, timing, resources, and expected benefits. REQUIREMENTS: * Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field. * Post-graduate Degree or Diploma desirable in related field. * 5-10 years procurement sourcing experience, consulting, buyer, and/or analyst experience. * Competence in assessing, negotiating, and managing suppliers. * An analytical mind with a strategic ability. * Act with fairness and integrity in all supplier interactions. * Identify and execute procurement initiatives to deliver optimal efficiencies to sites, including but not limited to, total cost of ownership, in region for region, supplier rationalisation, sustainable supply and alternate supply solutions. * Apply knowledge of the supplier market for materials/goods and services in terms of current technologies, competitive environment, market trends and global cost drivers. * Supplier Relationship Management / Supplier Risk Management / Preferred Supplier Selection. * Candidate must have demonstrated experience coordinating, facilitating discussions, consultation, and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to collaborate and influence internal and external Stakeholders. * Professional communication; both verbal and written are required. * Ability to travel up to 10% N.B.
